The severe damage caused by the major flood in Thailand in 2011 affected the Ayutthaya to Pathum Thani area (45 minutes to 1.5 hours from Bangkok), which had been the center of industrial parks, leading to an increase in companies relocating their industrial parks to the southern EEC area in Chonburi Province (1 to 2 hours from Bangkok).
